On the Beach with the Masters
At the beginning of October we were asked by historian Sam Willis if he could borrow the Beachmaster Jeep for a spot of filming with James Holland at Weston Super Mare. The filming was for a BBC documentory about young historians and what has inspired them to follow their respective subjects. Both James and Sam are long time friends of the Collection and we were delighted to help them out.
The Little Lady.
Eight years after her terrible accident the Little Lady is back on her feet in the Collection workshops and hopes to make her first public appearance since 2008 at this year's Dig for Victory Show on the 5/6th July at the North Somerset Showground.
During her restoration we found this....hard to believe 20 years has past.
Here is to the next twenty years.
Blitz Buddies visit the collection
On a very sunny afternoon at the end of September the we hosted an open day for all our friends in the Blitz Buddies.
Graeme, Rhoda and William watch on....
A great day. Hopefully we will see the BB back for a spot of camping in the very near future.
Show preparations.
Over the last few weeks we have been making the most of the lovely weather getting the vehicles ready for the Dig for Victory Show.
With only a week to go the Ops Room is waiting to go and the Austin has had a little run.
Spring is in the air.
With only nine months to go until the Dig for Victory Show, it has been an action packed few months here at the Shopland Collection. With the help of Tom Standeven from the local Imps we have completely stripped and repainted the Morrison shelter which is to take pride of place in the 1940's Home Marquee.
Ken Trego has been busy sign writting signs:
And a massive effort from the set building crew led by Corwin, including Blitz Buddies, Rich, Harry, John, to name but a few turned around our old four wheeled box trailer into the something pretty special for the command centre at DFVS 2014 -the Ops Room.
We still have some way to go but it is all progress.
